THE STORY:

Nancy Woods wrote -

"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.” The Wise Fools are passionate about words and their usage. Although this is our first year competing in the spelling bee hosted by the Literacy Council of Buncombe County, we will be bringing our A game! "The Literacy Council of Buncombe County works to increase comprehensive literacy and English language skills through specialized instruction by trained tutors and access to literacy resources. In 2015/16, 200 volunteer tutors gave over 14,000 hours of direct literacy tutoring to 350 students. We work with both native and non-native English speakers to help improve job prospects, ensure parents can help their children in school, and give students support as they enroll in a GED program. The gift of literacy is truly transformative. Our students gain self-confidence and develop the self-sufficiency to improve their lives as individuals, parents, workers, and citizens. As always, proceeds from the Spelling Bee benefit the work of the Literacy Council of Buncombe County." Every dollar goes to the LCBC. And every dollar we raise over $250 allows us to buy cheats...we may need them! What better way to spend an evening? Donate if you can, come out and cheer us on, or just send us encouraging vibes!

I dedicate this performance to the word "psychedelic," which is the reason I came in 2nd place in the 8th grade spelling bee. 1 year ago
