Come "run" with us!
June 06, 2017
As many of you know, Preston William Dew made a dramatic entrance into this world on August 26, 2016. Thankfully, he was delivered at GBMC and was moved quickly into the NICU where the amazing team there got to work on him right away. Even though it was not clear what the problem was, Dr. Birenbaum and his team were determined to help Preston in any way that they could. The decision was made to deliver a relatively new treatment known as therapeutic hypothermia to Preston so that his metabolism would slow and give his body time to recover from the respiratory and potential neurological injuries that were suspected. Preston spent 9 days in the GBMC NICU and received round-the-clock love and the highest level of care from an all-star team.
Today, Preston is a goofy, happy, and (most importantly) healthy 9 month old baby. And he is just one of the MANY success stories out of the GBMC NICU. Now, Preston, Catie, Chris and I would like to give back. So on Father's Day 2017, Preston and I (Ellen) will "run" the GBMC Father's Day 5K to raise money for other babies who need just a little bit of extra help, love and care when they come into this world.
Help support the start of their lives at our 29th annual Father's Day 5K.
With 12 rooms in the NICU, there is always equipment that needs updating, new technologies to incorporate and resources critical for these more fragile babies, who require 24/7 care. Your support can help us provide these resources.
Please consider a donation, or better yet, come run/walk/cheer along with us on Sunday June 18, 2017! Come on guys, Just DEW it!!
