BENEFITING: STUPID CANCER
3,000 Waves was born to raise money to fight cancer through the love of surfing. The objective is simple: surf 3,000 waves in 30 days to raise $100,000. I will cover 750 miles of California coastline in a rented RV, starting in San Francisco and ending in San Diego. I will stop in many of the surf communities along the way and connect with local cancer fighting non-profits. My budget for the project is approximately $3,000 which I will be funding personally. I’m counting on the local communities, large surf industry companies and an extended social media marketing campaign to help us achieve our goal of $100,000 to fight cancer.
The reason I wanted to launch this project was to combine two passions in my life: Giving Back to Community + Surfing. I picked Cancer in Young Adults due to the growing number of diagnoses and lack of support, resources, and awareness for this demogrpahic...not to mention I'm a member of this age bracket, ages 15-39. A handful of my friends, family members, former teammates and colleagues in this group have battled a variety of cancers ...this project is to help them and many, many others.
