BENEFITING: National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
EVENT DATE: May 23, 2015
Having been diagnosed with an incurable kidney disease when I was just six months old, I spent most of my life believing that I would die young. Against the odds, I have survived for 30 years and today I am healthier than ever before. On May 23, 2015, I celebrated my 30 years of life and health with a 30 mile run to benefit the National Kidney Foundation. The route, an infinity loop past important landmarks from my life, came to symbolize letting go of and moving beyond the past and continuing fearlessly with my new found freedom into the future. I completed the run to honor myself, my strength, and my body's perseverance, raise awareness for others surviving and even thriving with chronic kidney disease, and inspire the resilience that lives within us all.
All funds raised will go directly to the National Kidney Foundation, a source I have found to be invaluable over the years as I have learned to live with and manage chronic kidney disease.
