Veteran's Leadership Program is a leader in supporting Veterans in the local Pittsburgh area. The money stays local and goes toward helping Veterans. In 2015 VLP: -Provided permanent housing to 147 Veterans and their dependents, many of whom suffer from some form of disability -Provided 457 Veterans with Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing services -Provided emergency shelter diversion assistance to 82 Veterans and their families, keeping them together when they needed each other the most -Provided 517 Veterans and their families with financial assistance in order to maintain their households, providing utility assistance, gift cards for food, clothing, transportation, beds, furniture, toiletries, and other essential items. -Completed 114 tax returns for local low income Veterans, generating over $112,000 in refunds and over $34,000 in earned income tax credit. -Enrolled 443 Veterans into employment programs, offering services that include: assistance with resume writing, interview techniques, networking, as well as providing individualized job search plans and career counseling -334 of these clients were successfully placed into position of unsubsidized employment, 98 of the 334 Veterans placed into employment were high barrier Veterans who were homeless and were employed at an average hourly rate of $10.93.
