BENEFITING: Saint Louis, Habitat for Humanity
Why 40 dollars 40 days?
40 dollars 40 days is inspired by this time of year. It's a time when we reflect on our lives and our many blessings.
Our goal is to raise $1,600 for Habitat for Humanity of St. Louis within the next 40 days. We can accomplish this with your help. If one person donates $40 per day for the next 40 days, we will reach our goal. Think of it as $1 per day. Of course, you don't need to give $40 dollars. Any gift will help. Give today to help St. Louis families own homes they couldn't otherwise buy.
Why Habitat for Humanity?
Dan and I have been thinking a lot lately about how fortunate we have been to grow up in homes that are safe and happy — places where we enjoyed countless meals with our families and had parties with friends, where we could study or watch movies or play. These homes were the foundation of the families we are so thankful for.
This project is about giving to those who need homes. Habitat for Humanity "brings families and communities in need together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity houses are sold with no profit made. Homeowners contribute sweat equity, and house payments are recycled to build additional houses." [Charity Navigator]
According to Habitat for Humanity of St. Louis, housing continues to be one of the most pressing problems facing families today. More than 5,000 people are on the waiting list for homes, so many that the list has been closed for nearly a year.
