Welcome to my fundraising page for the 40th Annual Lincolm Marathon! I will be running for Project Purple on May 7, 2017 in honor of my mom, Linda McDowell Wheatley. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November of 2013. She underwent the whipple procedure in December of 2013 and started chemo January of 2014. She finished a round of chemo in June of 2014, when we were told everything was clear. Unfortunately everything was not clear. She began to have pains near her incision just a few weeks later. After some scans it was confirmed that the cancer had spread to her liver. She began chemo that very same day. The chemo only slowed the growth for a couple of months. In January of 2015 she decided that she had tried everything available. We made the best of the 2 months we had left. I was able to spend the last week right by her side. I am so grateful for that time with her. During that time she kept telling me to continue her fight. I promised her I would! And that lead me to find Project Purple.
This will be my third time to run for Project Purple. I have set the bar high this time with a goal of $2000. I need your help to reach this goal. Please help me fight pancreatic cancer and find a cure!!!
