40th Marine Corps Marathon at 50
Organized by: David Levin
EVENT DATE Oct 25, 2015
Many of you know how passionate I am about several charities and with this run I am determined to raise money to support them. I’m going to tell you about them and ask that you think of others and dig deep to support one or all of them. Each of them is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so now it’s up to you. It’s your choice!
• Jeffy’s Field - My college friend Robin Bergantino Hayek and her family lost their son Jeffy to a brain aneurysm at the age of 10. He LOVED baseball! After his death, his family made a decision to build a baseball field in Frederick, MD in his memory. A place where kids could play and learn the game that he loved so much! The field is now in use, but to keep it operational there are maintenance fees and additional equipment expenses that need funding! The Fund will continue to grow through donations and other fundraising activities. Why not donate to keep Jeffy’s passion alive!
• The Pat Tillman Foundation - Pat was my favorite player for the Arizona Cardinals, in fact his jersey was the first one I ever bought that had someone’s name on it. In 2002, he put his NFL career on hold to serve his country in the wake of the attacks of 9/11 and unfortunately in 2004, he was killed in Afghanistan. Pat’s family and friends founded the foundation and its focus now is to support veterans and spouses through educational scholarships, tools and a support network. The foundation has provided 60 Tillman Military Scholars scholarships so far. Please help provide additional scholarships by donating to this worthwhile fund.
• The ALS Foundation – My former co-worker, Debbie Barringer, had her eyes on the prize, retirement and all the great things that come along with it! Instead, she was diagnosed with ALS, a terrible debilitating disease. She handled it with grace but it robbed her of everything and she lost her battle on January 12, 2014. I participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge on her behalf which I know raised a “bucket” of money, but so far there is no cure, so we need raise more money to fund the research.
Through your support and generosity, my goal is to raise $3,000 dollars. This would allow me to have $1,000 go to each charity. Will you please help me pay it forward for Jeffy’s Field, The Pat Tillman Foundation and the ALS Association?
I’m counting on you for your support to help me cross the finish line at 50. Let's help others turn their dreams into a reality.
