They work tirelessly to help children all over Ocean County. My nephew Jacob suffers from Cerebral Palsy, and Carmelena Cares has had a direct impact on his life. As a veteran marathoner who's always been afraid to take the plunge and run an ultra, I figured there was no better way to challenge myself than by running for a cause. After seeing how much joy something like an adaptive bicycle can bring to a kid like Jacob, and learning about how many other children Carmelena Cares has helped directly, I registered for the 50 Mile event at the NJ Ultra Festival in April, with the modest goal of raising money for this wonderful organization. Check out their Facebook page, and you'll see how much of an effect they have had on these great kids!
