Shot my first 500 today (250 before work and 250 after work). Made 276 (that included a lot of lay-ups). Gonna go home and ice my body.  See more

In a effort to raise money for a great organization in Iowa, recapture some of my former glory and possibly shed a pound or two I will be taking 500 shots a day on the basketball court for the month of March. Just want to emphasize that I said taking, not making, 500 shots a day. It is my own version of March Madness: it is in the month of March and I gotta be mad to think I can still shoot 500 shots a day at my age.

I would appreciate any donations or votes you can give me. If you donate a penny for every shot I take that will equal $155. If you want to donate a penny for every shot I make - I will let you know how much I owe you after it is all over. I will post daily updates of my shooting. With any luck the number I make will go up as we move along, but I make no guarantees.

I am raising money for Youth Emergency Services & Shelter of Iowa – commonly referred to as YESS –  a private, non-profit organization in Des Moines, Iowa. I volunteered there over the holiday break and it is a great organization.

YESS has helped kids and parents be families since 1973.  From its beginning as a small drop-in center for teens, YESS has grown into a well-established and highly regarded agency designed to keep children safe and families together.  The range of YESS’ programs and services for children continues to be a vital safety-net in the community, providing safety, care and support for children, newborn through age 17, and their families during times of crisis in their lives.
