Dorrie's 5,000 Meter Row for Parkinson's
Organized by: Dorothy Sundquist
EVENT DATE Jan 01, 2016
Hello friends and family! I originally started this personal challenge to raise $1,000 to support exercise programs for people with Parkinson's in Madison, WI. In a little over a week, thanks to the generosity and support of family and friends, I have reached that goal. I am now going for $1,500. For just a minimum of $10.00 you can sponsor me in my efforts to row 5,000 meters in my personal Erg-a-thon (rowing on a stationary rower). I started rowing in Madison three years ago in a program for people with Parkinson's disease. I loved being on the water and the workout it provided. Thanks to the encouragement of the wonderful trainers and staff at my gym, Anytime Fitness, I have kept rowing during the long Wisconsin winters on the stationary rowers (Ergs). Your sponsorship will help the Parkinson's rowing program as well as boxing, Zumba, yoga and other exercise programs to continue. Exercise has been found to be a vital component in stalling the effects of Parkinson's Disease. I plan to row on January 1, 2016 to promote living well with Parkinson's and as a symbolic start to a brand new year My personal goal is to do the 5,000 meter row in less than 35 minutes. Thanks for your support.
