BENEFITING: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Mileage Tracker: 500
I'm 33 days into 2013 (see update(s) below), and am wondering if I will have the motivation to complete my New Year's resolution / goal: run 500 miles by December 31, 2013. So far, I have knocked down 45 miles, but have 455 miles to go. Five hundred miles might sound like a high number to some, but probably does not sound like a long distance to others. Keep in mind that I also love to ski, hike, mountain bike, etc...and none of those activities count. I have to run 500 miles in addition to all other activities!
I began thinking that external pressure, combined with a good cause, might help me reach this goal. So I would like to ask you to support me by pledging to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation when I reach my goal. For those of you who don't know, I care for cystic fibrosis patients in St. Luke's Cystic Fibrosis Center in Boise, and I am an active investigator in our center's research studies. We are getting closer and closer to breakthrough therapies and near cures. Please help our patients and our CF center realize our goal--a cure!
Every little bit that each person gives helps and will eventually add up to a large amount!
1 cent / mile = $5.00
5 cents / mile = $25.00
10 cents / mile = $50.00
25 cents / mile = $125.00
50 cents / mile = $250.00

Thank you for your support of both me and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!
UPDATE 4/14/13: Now almost 1/3 through the year, and I remain on pace! I have run 152 miles so far, towards my goal of 500 miles by December 31st. I have begun contemplating a party to celebrate the 500th mile--all donors to be invited!!! Please support my patients who have Cystic Fibrosis, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and me in my 2013 goal. Thank you!!!
UPDATE 10/6/13: Now a bit more than 75% through the year. How time flies! After today's run, am on pace and have covered 384 miles! Over the weekend, my prior running shoes split / cracked, and became water-logged in puddles...so onto my new ones. Very soon, I will add some interesting statistics of my year in running. Thanks so much for all of your support!
UPDATE 12/22/13: Did it! Hit 500.1 miles today after my 3.7 mile run in the snow. Woo-hoo!!!!
