In just under 2 weeks I will be turning 50, (wow!) and am marking this milestone with something philanthropic. I love elephants, always have done, and can’t imagine a world without them.
I am pledging my efforts to fund raise for these orphans as part of The Big Birthday, and try and get 50 fosters in place by my 50th birthday. We're at 35 already. Yeehaaa!! Please note that any contributions are deemed "presents" and I will not be accepting any birthday presents when the day comes along.
I am planning to "earn" my sponsorship money by walking around Nevis (the island in the Caribbean where I live – in case you didn’t know) wearing an elephant suit!! Yup. I don't think it would be fair to ask for the funds without doing something for it... so donning a fluffy suit and walking around my home island (a distance of about 19.4 miles) dressed as an elephant, fits the bill nicely I'd say. The walk is now scheduled for the 31st January and I have 2 mad (but wonderful friends!) who are going to join me in this long "jaunt"!!
If you can sponsor me US$50, you will be the proud foster parent of an elephant orphan for a year and you will receive the following from the David Sheldrick Wilflife Trust:
* Fostering certificate showing the name of your elephant foster
* Map showing where the orphan was located
* Monthly emails updating you on the progress of your elephant along with links to the Keepers Diary. [These emails are a joy to receive!!]
* A watercolour of your chosen foster elephant, painted by Angela Sheldrick.
If you can donate smaller sums, absolutely no worries. I will receive the monthly emails and share them with you so that you too can have your regular updates etc
Once you've donated here on my Crowdrise page, the next step is to choose the baby that you'd like to foster. Head on over to the Sheldrick website to choose your elephant on the following site:
Or I can choose one for you. They all have heartwrenching stories and every single one will make a wonderful foster baby.
Thank you for your support, my friends and family around the world.
Let’s do this!
