BENEFITING: SHINE ON SIERRA LEONE
In April 2011 Sierra Leone will celebrate 50 years of independence.
For the past 6 months I've been living on the beach helping lead the development of Tribewanted: John Obey sustainable community tourism project.
I've also been doing a little running.
So to help celebrate 50 years of independence and to raise a few $ I'm going to try and run a kilometer for every year of independence, starting with 1961 and hopefully making through in under 5 hours to 2011.
The run will take place in May and will start on the beach at Tribewanted John Obey, head south and east along the peninsula road to Waterloo and then back.
The boys of John Obey have been training too and have so far managed 22ks at a good pace. Some in just jelly shoes.
The funds raised from the run will go to some of SL's best sustainable development projects through our friends at Shine on Sierra Leone as well as supporting the community of John Obey.
Thank you for your support. The boys and I will be thinking of your generosity as we hit the tough ks probably around the 'early 90s'. If I get tired in the 70s or 80s I'm in trouble...
