White’s School of the Arts Community Developmental Programs, Inc. is a non-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that is partnered with The 53rd Week, a NGO dedicated to improving short term volunteer medical work by providing more collaborative care and resource sharing while providing volunteers an opportunity to participate in these educational experiences. Together, we offer opportunities in training for health care trainees and young professionals while providing needed healthcare to communities. For the past 7 years, WSACDP and The 53rd Week have sponsored annual short term medical trips to the Dominican Republic, setting up week-long mobile health clinics that provide medical care to over 1,000 children per trip. We have also offered scholarships for these youth and young professionals to allow them to participate. In partnership with the local Good Samaritan Hospital, we are working to establish more permanent local pediatric clinics and start a health education series to promote sustainable health education efforts year-round; one of our specific goals this year is to create an educational video on cultural competency.
We are hoping to raise $5,000 to help support these causes and scholarships. The healthcare we provide is made possible through generous donations by organizations and every dollar donated goes directly to the costs of the medical trip. Material or monetary donations can be sent to the WSACDP and checks can be made out to “White’s School of the Arts Community Developmental Programs.” Please make sure to write The 53rd Week on the memo line.
