3 Months Out!
August 02, 2017
BENEFITING: Global Lyme Alliance
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 41
My name is Allison Donaghy. On November 2, 2017, I will be running 57 miles from the Penn State track to the Bucknell track to raise money for the Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), a nonprofit organization funding research and awareness on the complexity of Lyme disease. All money raised will go to GLA to fund lyme disesase research and education.
Why Penn State to Bucknell?
As a 2012 Bucknell alum, I was part of the cross-country and track team during most of my time at school. The 57 mile run is a men's cross-country tradition: at the end of track season in May, at least one senior must run from Penn State to Bucknell. Bucknell Homecoming (November 3-5, 2017) marks five years since being a student, and a lot has changed since the warm spring day I donned my cap and gown, and accepted my diploma.
Why Lyme Disease?
After many years of searching for an answer to my many health issues, I was diagnosed with chronic lyme last year, fall 2016. I still deal with many symptoms, symptoms which could have been prevented had I been correctly diagnosed.
Lyme disease is a complex, often invisible illness. I want to make a difference for others who may need a fast diagnosis, so they don't have to suffer like I and millions others have searching for answers.
Please donate and help me make a difference! Raising awareness about lyme disease and its complexities is vital as well as continued research and education for doctors.
