5k run for Lisa
Organized by: Yolanda Lewis
Lisa was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 2001 at the age of 36. The disease remained in remission until 2012 when the disease started to affect her lungs. Despite the use of medication and countless doctors, the disease has caused lung issues as well as pulmonary hypertension. At the age of 49 she is unable to perform daily duties such as house cleaning and working outside the home. She cannot walk far and depends on oxygen and medications to improve her quality of life.
My mother worked as a CNA for over 25 years before Sarcodosis took away her ability to work and care for others. She is currently being considered for a lung transplant and other very expensive medications to help her live a comfortable life.
I will be participating in a 5K run on April 26th to Support the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research and to also raise awareness about the disease. We will be donating 50% of the funds raised to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis research and the remaining funds will be used for my mothers recovery. My families hope is to raise funds for our mother's home and medical expenses.
We appreciate everyones generosity and contributions to this cause before the run and after. We will be collecting donations until May 31st. Each donation no matter the size is greatly appreciated and will be used to give our mother a better quality of life and continue to support research for Sarcoidosis.
