BENEFITING: THE FATHERLESS FOUNDATION INC
Located 17 miles outside of the city of Kinshasa, DRC, lies the village of Kimpoko. There are a few small, roadside shops and a school, but the people of Kimpoko have no access to clean water. Every day, women and young girls must walk to the Congo River to collect water for their families. This journey takes an hour and a half each way, and most women have to go to the river twice, which means 6 hours of each day is spent just simply collecting water. Water that is not clean. Water that carries diseases. Water that can make their children sick. This is the reality for more 70% of the people living in rural DRC.
Just outside of this village is the future home of GOF’s Pebble Project Children’s Village. Kimpoko is where our children will grow up and learn how to be a part of a community. This will be their home.
As we move in to the first major phase of development in the Pebble Project Village, our top priority is to dig a well for clean water. This will allow us to water crops as we increase our farming and lay the groundwork for all other construction on the land. While this well will provide clean water for the children in our village, our hope is to also be able to install a well for the people in Kimpoko.
This is where you can make a difference! We need your help in raising $25,000 by September to install both of these wells. We would love to have your support in reaching this goal.
Every dollar counts, and your gift would help provide clean water for both the Children’s Village as well as the people of Kimpoko. Your gift will make a real difference in the lives of countless of men, women, and children!
Be sure to share your support on social media with a picture of what you would do with 6 extra hours and #6extrahours!
