Hi everyone, my name is Martine Longchamp and I am one of the founders of Diakonos International and co-creator of Art Day Celebration. I was born in a family full of artists. My grandfather, Philome Obin, was thought to be “arguably the greatest of all Haitian artists—his main rival for that accolade is fellow painter Hector Hyppolite” (Wikipedia). Every July, to honor his legacy, we celebrate his life by facilitating a two-day art workshop for about 150 underprivileged and vulnerable children in Haiti.
Art is known to bring healing and restore hope. And in our quest to prepare the disenfranchised and vulnerable children of today to become the next generation of productive citizens, we looked to the arts to contribute to their emotional and social well-being. In 2012. we developed a creative art program called Art Day Celebration. The program, which covers various forms of art, assists in the development of each child’s natural aptitudes while stimulating their creativity through imaginative activities.
On July 20th (which is my grandpa's birthday) and 21st, we will be hosting our 6th Annual Art Day Celebration Workshop event in a Southern area in Haiti called Fonds-des-Negres.
My goal is to raise $2000 of the $6000 needed this year to fund this amazing project.
I am extending you an invitation to help me reach my goal this year.
For any donation of $50 and greater, I will send you our t-shirt from this year's Art Workshop
For any donation of $250 and greater, I will send you our 2017 ADC t-shirt, with a personal thank you card from one of the children of Our Small Community of Family in Haiti.
