This will be my most difficult mental and physical challenge to date. My event is March 30, 2013. I have been training with the help of friends and an understanding and supportive husband. I have been training with Train4Autism for two years. Train 4 Autism is a foundation dedicated to bringing together a community of athletes, physically active, and socially conscious people who are committed to raising awareness and funds for research and treatment for those living with Autism and their families. I am honored to be one of the Train4Autism Southbay chapter Co-Presidents. I will be training and racing in my beautiful blue Train4Autism tri-suit.
A little about my journey:
Swim – I swam in the bay and ocean all summer and LOVED it. I have moved swim training indoors, I joined the Torrance YMCA. We went to Playa Del Carmen, MX in January and I got some great ocean swims in.
Bike – my most challenging of the three. Thanks to Susie and Esteban for getting me up and down PV, it was a mental break through. On February 9, I completed my first organized cycling event, the Tour de Palm Springs. 105.88 miles in 8 hours and 20 minutes. I'm tired just typing those numbers. I am feeling a lot more confident on my bike.
Run – I ran 5 half marathons in 2012 and did the Surf City (Huntington Beach) half on Super Bowl Sunday. This is the sport I feel the most confident in.
I have set a goal of $3,333! It seems like a natural goal since I will be participating in a 70.3 at the age of 43 on 3/30/13.
I will keep you posted on my training and fundraising progress through monthly emails. If you choose not to be a part of the email blast let me know. I will not be offended.
Thanks for your well wishes and support.
