Sex sells, right? Duh, that's a no brainer. But do you ever consider that there is a business deal going down...a TRANSACTION..an EXCHANGE for selling/buying children for sex? Child sex trafficking is a very lucrative business...after all where there is demand there is supply. This isn't some dirty little secret only going down in some brothel over in India. No way. This is happening all around us..in every corner and in every neighborhood. The FBI ranked Atlanta as 14th in the nation for this issue.
I am a newish volunteer to the community of CSEC..Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children. For a while I have been looking for a cause that spoke to me. How can I not be concerned? After all, 400 minors are SOLD and BOUGHT per month in Georgia. There is so much wrong with that sentence I don't even know where to start. This issue touches me because of the intersection of health, humanity, and the protection of these young girls is important. These girls are invisible, much like modern day slaves whose identity is eventually worn down. A CSEC victim is any child who has received food, drugs, money or shelter in exchange for sex.
Georgia has the first coordinated response to this issue in the nation. Don't you want to keep that going? Your funds will help their efforts in prevention, awareness, and to disable and prosecute the pimps and buyers who keep this cycle running.
