BENEFITING: Grand Street Settlement
THE STORY:
We have just 84,960 minutes to make it count.
Before summer starts, Grand St. Settlement wants to make sure that more than 500 kids have a summer that's as fun, adventurous, and safe as the other 44 weeks they spend in our youth programs.
In the spirit of summer, we need you to be your fun-loving, creative and generous selves - but for a little bit of money from your family, friends, colleagues - any maybe some other people that love doing good.
What can you do with your minutes?
Wear your favorite jeans for 480 minutes on a Friday. We know your colleagues would join the Casual Friday cause. Ask for $2 for every Friday (there's 8 left!) and the change will add up.
Burn 262 minutes setting a new marathon PR (or maybe 62 minutes for that first 5K). This is the excuse you've been looking for... sign up! Ask folks to make a donation - sometimes, wearing a silly outfit helps up the ante.
Save your 60-minute lunch break by brown-bagging it - and donating the cost of your usual order. Don't be fooled - even $10 makes a difference (especially if you can get your whole office in on it)! If the team can plan to donate $10 each every Tuesday, you'll raise some serious dough. Talk about a power lunch!
Donate all 1,440 minutes of your birthday (and all those presents nobody wants). Ask your friends to make a gift in your name to make a bigger difference. Whether it's the cost of something shiny or a drink, they'll be into it.
...Or maybe you really want to do it up and have some fun! A living room concert, crazy hair stunt, a day of hula-hooping in the park, a cycling session with all your "ride or die" friends, or a marathon binge session of your favorite series (you supply the screen and snacks, friends supply a donation)... it doesn't matter what you do - so long as you do it!
Grand St. Settlement has been sending children and youth to summer camp for nearly a century. We know how important it is to capture the summer's spirit of adventure and energy of possibility and share it. Every child should have the opportunity to have a summer that stays with them through the years. You can help.
