I want to help empower 30 Ethiopian women to start their own businesses. These women live in a small impoverished village called Chapa and currently have no source of income. They have been asking for employment opportunities, so they can buy food for their families, send their children to school, and start to pull themselves out of poverty.
The idea is simple. On June 21st Mallory Brown of CrowdRise's 24-Hour Impact Project, will be on the ground in Ethiopia working with 30 women in the village to help launch their businesses. We've set a goal to try and raise $30,000 in 24 hours to complete the project and I'm honored to be a part of the effort.
So please donate today. We only have 24 hours. The entire process will be filmed so you can see the direct, immediate result.
I'm so excited to empower these 30 women. Their first true income will transform the lives of their families and community. If we hit our goal these women begin working! The funds raised will provide job training, financial management classes, equipment, materials -- and everything they need to run a sustainable business.
. . .
The CrowdRise 24-Hour Impact Project was developed in partnership with Mallory Brown, social entrepreneur and founder of World's Clothesline, to demonstrate the incredible power that real-time impact and crowdfunding can give to an individual trying to make change in the world.
The project is a series of 24-hour flash fundraisers that identify a need, spend 24-hours raising funds needed, and then spend the following 24-hours implementing those funds to address it. All activity is filmed in real time and video updates are posted so that donors can see the immediate result of their contributions.
