8MBA was founded in 1993 by Detroit, its 12 Eight Mile neighbors, SEMCOG, the DEGC and MDOT to revitalize Eight Mile through collaboration between communities, businesses and residents. We bring Detroit’s renaissance to its northern border by organizing, executing and promoting revitalization projects, while fundraising for them.
Just a few examples of our impact include:
-Securing $6M+ for Eight Mile revitalization projects.
-Coordinating 20K+ volunteer hours for beautification projects.
-Supporting 24+ property renovations through our Façade Improvement Program, which attracts $2+ in private investment for every $1 in grants.
-Raising $80K+ to enhance Detroit’s Knudsen & O’Hair Parks off Eight Mile.
-Hosting 15 consecutive annual Leadership Luncheon events, raising funds and awareness from 600+ attendees from Detroit and the region each year.
-Supporting code enforcement, blight removal and crime prevention through our Corridor Keeper™ program.
-Uniting stakeholders in support of major developments (e.g. Gateway Marketplace and the State Fairgrounds).
