EVENT DATE: Oct 23, 2011
On July 31, 2006, I received a phone call that changed my life forever. I never knew something so horrid could happen to someone - suicide. I never knew what that was until that very day. My own dad, Dean F. Greb, a reputable and well respected Fire Chief, the guy that protected us from strangers, lectured us on good and bad, held our hands when we were sick or in pain and most of all, was our biggest cheerleader, took his own life. My heart sank and I will forever carry a special space for him. I'll never know how many people he touched and I will forever have unanswered questions - he will remain a mystey to me and to this day, I'll always wonder about my dad.
On October 23, 2011, I will join many others who have lost a loved one to suicide with AFSP. My goal is to not only raise awareness but to also start a support group for ladies who have lost their dads. I want ladies to know there is someone who knows exactly how you feel - knows what you will go through and wants to be there to help you as much as I can. NOBODY can relate to sucide unless they have gone through it - sadly - this was a choice.
Please join me in raising money to start researching for a book I'd like to write regarding all of the above. With your help, I know it will help take us to where we want to go.
