93rd Street Elementary school has 1,158 students that attend the school
from Pre-Kindergarten to 6th grade. The school has one of the highest percentages of
students living under the poverty level out of 5,423 elementary schools in the Los
Angeles area. 95% of the students at 93rd Street qualify for the Free and Reduced lunch
On September 29th, 75 students, teachers and families participated in the
Learning Garden build day. LAUSD and the garden team from 93rd street raised funds
to be able to support this effort by buying soil and plants, and by providing
breakfast and lunch for the volunteers on build day. During build day, volunteers installed the Learning Garden,
replanted roses and took a dried-up existing planter and turned it into a thriving native
Kids who came out to the build day had the opportunity to plant vegetables
in the Learning Garden as well as learn about what they were planting by drawing
and talking about healthy foods throughout the day.
Please help 93rd Street Elementary raise funds to continue our Learning
Garden this spring. By supporting our school in the Learning Garden
Challenge, we will be able to purchase seeds, refresh the soil and
enjoy a bountiful, veggie-filled spring!
