THE STORY:

FRIENDS OF THE GREAT GREEN MACAW INC wrote -

Happy spring!  The sun is warming things up, buds are popping on the trees and migratory birds are moving through the hemisphere. It means it's time for Rainforest Biodiversity Group's  (formerly Friends of the Great Green Macaw) annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser!

This year's 9th Annual Bird-a-thon will occur on May 9th, 2015. This year that date also happens to fall on the date for the new Global Big Day, which encourges birders to get out and spend a full-day of birding. We encourage you all that love to bird, to get out and spend the day birding AND raising money for RBG and our Small Grants Program!!

You are invited to JOIN our fundraising team by joining this fundraiser as a birder. Tell your friends and family you are birding for a cause and get them to sponsor your birding effort. They can SPONSOR you by giving a fixed donation amount, or by sponsoring  you by giving an amount per bird species. Be it 25 cents or $1 or more per bird species.

If you can join us as a birder, we encourage you to support one of our RBG birders who will be out birding on May 9th. Again, sponsor at a fixed amount or per bird species!!

Donations of $50 or more will receive a Bird-a-Thon t-shirt as a thank you. (Be sure to provide your t-shirt size and shipping address in the “Comment, In Memory, Tribute (Optional): ” Box on the Donation Page.)

If you decide to participate as a birder you can create your own fundraising site through this page. The birder who raises the most money for the organization will receive a $250 Visa gift card!

All levels of support are welcome. All donations are of course fully tax deductible, and you will recieve a receipt from us for your tax purposes. Last year we were able to support a great project in Panama to save Pygmy Sloths!

Collecting Donations - It will be up to you as the birder to collect your donations, either by credit card via your secure Crowdrise fundraising page, or through cash or check in person. If you collect cash or checks, please be sure to enter these totals into your Crowdrise webpage, so they may be added to your overall total and put you closer to winning the big prize! Please let your donors know that if they donate more than $50, they are eligible to receive a Bird-a-Thon t-shirt, but they must give you their t-shirt size and address if shipping is necessary. This information should be collected at the time they make their donation, either on their check, or in the “Comment, In Memory, Tribute (Optional): ” box on the Donation Page.

Please email us at info@rainforestbiodiversity.org if you have any further questions.

Thank you!!
