Alex and Jamie Schneider are profoundly autistic. They are both non-verbal and are unable to cross a street without supervision. However, for the past eight years, they have become amazing runners. Alex is especially gifted. His PR for a marathon is 3 hours, 23 minutes and 22 seconds, which he completed this past April in the Boston Marathon, luckily, before the bombs exploded. Jamie was slower so he was unable to finish the race, but thankfully, because of this, he missed the explosions. This will be Alex and Jamie's sixth Marathon, and first NYC Marathon!
We are raising funds for ASAT because they are committed to adopting higher standards of accountability for the care, education and treatment of individuals with autism. We believe this is essential in achieving the highest quality of living for all of the precious children and adults afflicted with autism.
There are many websites about autism treatments and interventions. In many ways ASAT is unique. We are not a business with a particular agenda. We are not trying to promote any particular treatment. We are not selling anything.
Our mission is to share accurate, scientifically sound information about autism and treatments for autism because we believe individuals with autism and their families deserve nothing less.
Please help ASAT to continue this mission by supporting our runners: clinicians, consumers and parents as we run the 26.2 miles of the NYC Marathon in support of ASAT!
