We need your help. This year, UPEACE wants to go above and beyond and provide extra scholarship funds to help students join us for the upcoming academic year. We have identified a number of students that have been offered partial tuition waivers, have incredible profiles, but are not able to attend because of financial constraints.
The United Nations-mandated University for Peace was created 35 years ago with the goal "to provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace.” This lofty mission draws together a select group of students in Costa Rica each year to obtain their MAs in peace-related fields. Each year our class of around 150 students represents up to 55 nations, creating a unique and magical learning environment, where students learn as much from each other as they do from their books.
This year, we're starting with just one student. Richard grew up working in the tourism industry in rural La Fortuna, Costa Rica. He gained a passion for the natural world and through his interaction with tourists learned about the importance of sustainable development. Volunteering with a turtle conservation program in his spare time, Richard managed to obtain a law degree, and now he is ready to take his education further. Richard applied to the Environment, Development and Peace MA programme, and was accepted with a 50% tuition waiver, but will be unable to attend without additional help.
This guy is amazing, and we want to help. We ask you, alumni, supporters of the University, professors, and friends, to join forces. 100% of the funds earned will go directly toward scholarships. Any donation, big or small, can help Richard and others like him join UPEACE this year.
