The expedition was memorable; we experienced a "perfect storm" at high camp (6000 meters, 120-150km/hr winds) resulting in an emergency airlift of two team members because of critical frostbite, search and rescue for a lost team member and the destruction of our primary and secondary campsites (ending our summit attempt)!
In short, we were lucky to survive the experience...
I am embarking on a once in a lifetime expedition to Aconcagua, the highest summit outside of the Himalaya standing 22,841 feet (6,962 meters).
The climb will be one of the first of the expedition season and we therefore expect more extreme snow, ice, temperatures and winds. If all goes well, we will have summited and traversed the mountain within three weeks of our start date (November 27th).
My hope is to raise sufficient funds for my favorite charity - Hedge Funds Care, Preventing and Treating Child Abuse - to grant an award to one of the child welfare organizations it supports.
Hedge Funds Care is a global charity devoted to preventing and treating child abuse. There are nearly 3.3 million reports of child abuse each year, and many more go unreported. Through grants to community based organizations, Hedge Funds Care focuses its efforts on intervention, prevention, advocacy, education, training, and research.
Please consider donating to Hedge Funds Care.
