On Sunday November 5th, I will run the TCS New York City Marathon in honor of my mom Jean Fallon Brown as well as all those who have been touched by Ovarian Cancer. My goal is to raise awareness, promote education, and fund research in support of women, families, and communities nationwide.
It was September 2010 when my mom, Jean, was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She fought long and hard for three years, before passing away in October 2013. During this time, everyone around her admired her strength - she was upbeat and positive , and determined to find a cure to defeat this terirble disease. She wasn't only the best mom, but a wife, a grandma, an aunt, and a friend to so many. All during this time, she was dedicated to educating women on the early signs of ovarian cancer. So in her memory, I am going to continue this mission. Remembering her strength and her fight will help me cross the finish line on November 5th.
Every step of those 26.2 miles and every dollar donated brings us closer to a world without cancer. All proceeds raised will help us continue to expand the NOCC's programs and provide vital research funding.
