On July 26th, 2015, the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) hosted the First Annual Climbing For ROMP; a worldwide event, which engaged hundreds of climbers on six continents, 13 countries, and 22 mountains across the globe. The signature climb up Cayambe in Ecuador was made possible with the support of the US Embassy – Quito Public Affairs Office. This event brought together climbers from the United States and Ecuador in an attempt to summit 19,000’ Vulcán Cayambe with a 16-person team of amputee and able bodied climbers.
In 2017, we are building off the success of the last two years and our goal is bigger! We are hoping to have 1,000 people worldwide join Climbing for ROMP this year to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act. The signature climb will again take place in Ecuador, where some of the most elite physically challenged athletes from around the globe will be asked to participate in support of ROMP. The goal of the well-promoted event will be to show the world the power of mobility, the importance of access to prosthetic care, and the international importance of legislation protecting rights for those with disabilities in the spirit of the ADA.
You can climb ANYWHERE around the world. Join the global ROMP community and CLIMB for ROMP!!!!
