Beyond Nice: 149 Ideas to Nurture Kindness in Young Children
Organized by: Stuart Stotts
Most people agree that kindness is important, and many would say that being kind is the most important thing we can do. But how do we raise children to be kind? Role modeling is crucial, but many children come from families without good role modeling, and many parents are searching for ways to explicitly focus on character and kindness. "Beyond Nice" is a collection of 149 activities and ideas to encourage kindness in children. Each of the 24 chapters explore kindness through a different theme: music, generosity, movement, empathy, etc. The book doesn't focus on lectures or platitudes, but instead contains hands-on, engaging, practical ways to focus on kindness with kids. I am an author, musician, and storyteller. I've worked with schools and families for nearly 30 years. I am looking for funding to finish the design and editing, and to get the book into the hands of teachers and parents who will use it. In particular, I am looking to hire someone short term who can locate reviewers, bloggers, teachers, and educators who can spread the word about the book and begin to use it.
