BENEFITING: Joslin Diabetes Center
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 53
As you may (or may not) have known last year I decided to make a stupid bet against my brother to see if the both of us could follow through with running a marathon. I'm happy to say the bet was won and I finished the Milwaukee Marathon just shy of beating his Chicago Marathon time by 4 minutes. A fact I will hold over him for a very long time ;)
Welllll it seems I have caught the marathon bug as I've decided to run the Chicago Marathon this October 8th! This time around I am training and fundraising with the Joslin Diabetes Center. You're probably asking yourself 1. Is Britt really stupid enough to train again for a second marathon (broken toe and all) and 2. Why is she fundraising for a Diabetes Center I have never heard of? Let me introduce to you the Joslin Diabetes Center....
The Joslin Diabetes Center was founded in 1898 and is world renowned for its deep expertise in diabetes treatment and research. Joslin is dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes and ensuring that people with diabetes live long, healthy lives. Joslin is an independent, non-profit institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School. All of the money raised by the Team Joslin program supports the High Hopes Fund. These funds ultimately contribute to Joslin's capacity to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes through cutting edge research, patient care, and education programs.
Type 1 diabetes is a cause near and dear to my family's heart as my mom has been battling it since she was 18 years old, so I am hoping you would please consider supporting me in my marathon journey. I've included the link below to donate. No pressure or anything but you would not only be helping find a cure for diabetes but also help me in beating Mills's time :)
