CAC - African Congressional Fellows Program
Team Member: Inemesit Essien
THE STORY:
Inemesit Essien is a senior majoring in Political Science and Pre-Law at Pace University in New York City.
A native New Yorker, she remains close to her Nigerian heritage visiting several orphanages every year. Inemesit is fluent in Ibibio and is a novice Spanish speaker. Inemesit has served in various positions pertaining to New York City politics working for the New York City Commission on Human Rights as a Research Assistant, and a Media Intern at the New York City Central Labor Council.
When asked about her decision to join the CAC African Congressional Fellows Program and for working for Congressman Joseph Crowley she responded:
"I was immediately attracted to the fact that the Cameroon American Council was reaching out to all people of African descent in efforts to connect them with meaningful internships. I believe in the betterment of all Africans, and believe the best change comes from within the system. ” In regards to Congressman Crowley “Congressman Crowley advocates strongly for the people in his community and believes in quality education for all and the continuation of art in public schools. I’m proud to be a part of a team that fights for what I believe in.”
