Please help me purchase an appliance for a family who was recently affected by the Joplin Tornado. It is my goal to not only give this family a tangible good, but to also reignite in them the strength to keep going. In a world that moves so quickly it is often times easy to forget the pain and loss that others are experiencing.
Just over a year has passed since the Joplin tornado, and although a great deal of the media attention has faded, the needs have not.
With that being said, I have devoted the majority of my AmeriCorps term at AmeriCorps St. Louis to creating an initiative entitled Joining Hands in the Heartland. Joining Hands in the Heartland is an initiative that plans to meet the needs of families and individuals recently affected by disaster in Missouri by providing large, energy efficient, appliances through community focused fundraising projects. Not only do I believe in providing these families with the tangible items they need to get back on their feet, but also providing them support. In a time when many are still in FEMA trailers, I truly believe this initiative can serve as a fresh inspiration and support.
In the spirit of helping those who are still rebuilding, I have decided to adopt a family myself. I ask you to volunteer by making a donation that will help me purchase both a stove and refrigerator for a family so they can move back into a home. Please find it in your heart to give this family fresh hope and support as they continue to recover.
Please feel free to also share this link with others or even adopt your own family!
