BENEFITING: Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech
ORGANIZER: Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Dear Family and Friends,
I will be running the ING New York City Marathon this November 03, please help me raise funds for the Clarke School for Hearing and Speech.
As most of you know, the past few months had brought many great changes to my family, especially to the most important person in my life, my son, Sebastian Garza.
Sebastian just turned three years old on July 13th and is a bilateral cochlear recipient since January 2013. Sebastian can hear and is starting to speak now. It brings me great joy when I hear him say “MAMA, NO, or imitates the screams of his cousins or the sounds of cops cars and fire trucks. Sebastian is a smart and extremely friendly child who loves to dance. He is always smiling and is full of energy and running on and on and on.
Sebastian, “the road runner” as called by a few friends, attends the Clarke School for Hearing and Speech. He currently receives Group Speech Therapy and within a few months will start Pre-K. The school provides “children who are deaf or hard of hearing with listening, learning and spoken language they need to succeed” and it is impacting our lives through their educational programs, family activities, hearing services, mainstream services, research, curriculum development and teachers.
The Clarke School for Hearing and Speech has helped many children like Sebastian reach their full learning potential. The staff members at The Clarke School for Hearing and Speech have indeed become our second family.
Furthermore, it is my favorite road runner, Sebastian, who has inspired me to not just run for fun or for health reason, but, for a cause, the cause of helping and support the Clarke School for Hearing and Speech in their journey of preparing and helping kids like Sebastian.
I urge you to support me in this cause.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Fernando Garza and Family
