Climate Journey is a dream to travel slowly, northerly and purposefully from New England, USA to Paris for COP 21, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in late November. Departing in June I will head north and east, through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to Newfoundland. I will continue in Greenland, home to the most visible effects of climate change, move on to Iceland, circle through Scandinavia and come back across eastern Europe.
Stories are the purpose. Of impacts and action. Tales of thawing tundra, failing fisheries and ebbing ice sheets. With a focus on the human dimension of such changes, the injustice of continued fossil fuel extraction and what it means to have a voice in international negotiations and the global grassroots climate movement.
This journey will only be possible with the generous support of so many kinds - logistical, spiritual, financial - all necessary. The purpose of this CrowdRise page is the latter. My budget looks to be $10,000+ for 6 months of working to communicate today's stories of climate change impact and action in the far north. I am happy to share it with you.
I'm also fundraising for 350.org via Climate Ride, if you would prefer to support the climate movement in that way. 350 has been inspiring me for so many years with their work towards climate justice.
