Connolly Tough Fund
Organized by: Connolly Tough Fund
Spring 2017: The Connolly Tough Fund started with an ambitious goal to raise to $60,000 to help Gene and Patty with the costs associated to adapt their lives to meet the challenges related to Gene's ALS diagnosis. We met and surpassed the goal in a little more than a year! Event highlights included: two Connolly Tough Walks, the Groovin' with Gene Event and a special retirement tribute.
Also noteworthy was the Thomson brothers' coast to coast bicyle ride from California to New Hampshire which raised an additional $30,000 for the Fund. Derek and Dylan, along with Gene were honored by the Boston Celtics as "Heroes Among Us" on March 1, 2017.
Uncovered medical and living expenses for the Connolly family continue, so we are committed as a community to support them with additional fundraising. Please consider making a donation today. A movie centered on Gene, directed by Dan Habib, will be released in May 2017. We expect it to provide some new energy to this campaign.
Summer 2016: The Connolly Tough Fund, for a window was focused on supporting a new scholarship fund in Gene's name. Gene's retirement party on June 25, 2016 was the kickoff and a quiet $4,000+ was raised. Please contact Steve Rothenberg firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. THANKS
2015: Gene Connolly, currenly the principal of Concord High School, was diagnosed with ALS in July 2014. While his life has become increasingly complicated as a result of the challenges he faces, Gene remains on the job.
From his days in Norwood raised along with his six brothers and sisters by Dr. and Mrs. Connolly; then to Springfield College (where he met Patty); and continuing on to an incredible 38-year public school career in New Hampshire, Gene has left an indelible mark on the lives of his students, colleagues, friends and family. He has selflessly and tirelessly served. Now, he needs OUR help.
In September 2014, a “Connolly Tough” community walk raised an incredible $25,000 for the ALS Foundation. The Connolly Tough Fund is for a more personal and immediate purpose — to help the Connollys. Gene and Patty face lofty expenses, beyond what is covered by medical insurance, as they begin to adjust their lives -- and their home -- to Gene's ALS diagnosis. Our fundraising target is $60,000, appropriate as Gene enters his 60th year.
Gene has left his mark in many worlds, from Norwood to Xaverian, Springfield to Windham, Derry to Concord, Jimmy to Ally to Ryan, and beyond. There is great love for this man, who always stands with others when challenges arise. Now is our chance to stand with him. Please consider giving at these special levels aligned to Gene’s passions:
