The Near SE/SW Community Benefits Coordinating Council (CBCC) is a 501(c)3 established to coordinate resources for the community of Southwest and Near Southeast Washington, DC (ANC 6D).
The CBCC's Education Committee is devoted to the concept that all children in our community deserve access to a high quality education at their neighborhood school. In an effort to bring greater racial, economic, and social diversity into our classrooms, the Committee is seeking to host a series of seminars and community conversations about the challenging issues of race and class in our neighborhood, in the hope that such courageous conversations about the differences that would divide us instead bring us together.
This fundraiser will support the costs associated with hosting a series of 6 bi-monthly conversations about race and equity in our neighborhood schools, and will draw on the expertise of academics, practitioners, community members, and a strong, neutral moderator to help ensure safe and honest conversations that break down barriers, challenge our assumptions about ourselves and others, and brings families greater trust in each other and in our neighborhood schools.
Your donation will demonstrate your support for this initiative as it seeks to build a diverse, cohesive community where all of our children can thrive.
