Dear Donors,

I know it's been a long time (almost a year and a half!) since the campaign, but I wanted to reach out to share some good news that may impact you.

As you may remember, the campaign raised so much money so quickly that Addario allowed us to work directly with my dad's oncologist to fund her research at Stanford.

The results of that research -- the research you funded -- were just published this week, and they're pretty darn cool: the team at Stanford has developed a blood test to detect cancer at very early stages. It's an inexpensive, noninvasive test that doesn't carry the same risks as a CT or a biopsy. The test is so sensitive that it can detect "one molecule of tumor DNA in a sea of 10,000 healthy DNA molecules in the blood."

This is exciting stuff -- a big step forward in increasing early cancer detection and decreasing cancer mortality. For more information about the test, click here: http://www.healthline.com/health-news/simple-blood-test-diagnose-solid-cancers-040714

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you for your support!!!

I'm happy to report that the anticipation and build-up of training an extra year to run the ING NYC Marathon was totally worth it...best experience of my life and doing it for MostValuableKids.org, an amazing cause made crossing that finish line even sweeter. Our team was a great inspiration at miles 17 & 24 & 25...thank you for being there in that cold weather...

I finished with a time of 4:42:21, next year I hope to break the 4 hour mark, and raise $10k. MostValuableKids of Greater NY is having its best year yet; the team has distributed almost 23k tickets so far this year valued at over $1.3mm, and we couldn't have done this without our donors support. To attend events with the children and/or get more involved let me know and I'll connect you with our awesome team!!!

Cheers Till 2014!!!

Thank you again for your support,

Jesse

Thank you for your more than generous donation last year...In case you didn't know with the NYC Marathon being canceled, because of your support I wanted to fulfill the mission that you supported so generously. So while I was waiting @ LaGuardia for my flight back to Dallas post hurricane Sandy, I signed up, trained and ran the Dallas Marathon on Dec 9th, 2012. I also registered to run the NYC Marathon in 2013, and will be running next month. So hopefully you'll be in and around NYC November 3rd and can come out and show your support for myself & MostValuableKids. We're having another record breaking year and have distributed over 20,000 tickets to NYC's under served children. Hope you see you in November.

Thank you again for your support,

Jesse

Hi Donors!

Thank you for supporting runforlaptops.org

I completed the Marathon des Sables about a month ago, but we are still working toward raising our final $10,000.

In case you are curious about the race, here are two movies I made from footage I took. Copy/paste the links into a new window.

Dear Runforlaptops Donors! …
Dear Runforlaptops Donors!

Thank you so much for donating! So far your contribution has helped us raise almost $29,000!!!

The race is almost here! I leave on Monday April 1st. I arrive in the desert on April 3rd. I’ll have 2 days of administrative check-ins on April 5 and 6. Then from April 7th-13th I will be racing!

You can follow my personal race updates at this link: www.runforlaptops.edublogs.org (I get to send one email per day, the recipient of that email is going to post it to the blog).

OR go to: http://www.darbaroud.com/en/2013-edition/mds-timing/mds-timing-n-10.html to read how to email me between April 6th and April 12th (This information is also posted on my blog). You cannot email my gmail account, you have to follow the directions on the site. My race ID is 1047

Also apparently there will be live streaming video of the finish line for each day’s stage. So I guess if you are really into staring at a sandy finish line at odd hours, then you’ll have something to do.

Your support has been overwhelming. Thank you so much for helping to change the education of so many urban public school students.

THANK YOU!

Hello!

I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to helping me reach and exceed my fundraising goal of $5,000; together we raised $6500+ for Self Help Africa! I am so touched by all of your generous support, whether it be a financial donation, words of encouragement, song suggestions, running advice, or funny emails that brought a smile to my face during one of my long training runs.

When I started this journey, I had never run more than 6 miles at a time. I truly cannot believe that I trained for and will be RUNNING the 2013 Boston Marathon. With 19 days to go, I'm definitely ready for race day and excited to check this off my bucket list. For those of you that will be in Boston on April 15th, I'll be in a green shirt with my name on it. I should be passing through Wellesley, the mid-point, around 12:40ish pm and at the finish line around 2:35ish pm (if all goes according to plan…)!

Thank you again for all of your support; I can't even begin to describe how much it is appreciated.

Crowdrise,

Thank you so much for your donation. I can't tell you how much it is appreciated, both by me and Self Help Africa! Every bit helps in getting to my goal of $5k. The next couple of months will be the toughest in terms of training so I'm hoping I can stick it out.

Thank you again for thinking of me.
