HELP US HELP THEM! LET'S MAKE A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER...
Crescendo: The Tampa Bay Women's Chorus is a lesbian and feminist centered chorus dedicated to social change through musical excellence and activities.
In early June Crescendo will host a songwriting workshop called "Lift Your Voice", with Amy Carol Webb, (a renowned composer and social activist), at The Spring in Tampa. The mission of The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. is to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families and communities.
“Lift Your Voice” will be a healing and self-esteem building, songwriting workshop for the women sheltered at The Spring. Research shows that this type of activity encourages expression of feelings, builds confidence and promotes healthy change in an individual’s life.
Crescendo will host a lasagna dinner and karaoke night on a Friday evening, and then the songwriting workshop with the residents at The Spring on Saturday that will include a hosted luncheon.
During the workshop, the women will write their stories, turn them into lyrics and ultimately create a song. The song will be recorded at the workshop and each participant will be given a copy of the CD.
Crescendo will have the song arranged for 4 part women's voices and sing it at future performances to raise awareness about domestic violence.
We will use your donations to help pay for the costs of the dinner and luncheon as well as the costs associated with bringing in Amy Carol Webb and materials for the workshop.
