BENEFITING: JACK S ANGELS INC
EVENT DATE: May 17, 2017
DID YOU KNOW?
Imagine being told that there are no solutions for your child, that you must helplessly watch your child die because his/her life is irrelevant to research investors. Sadly, this is not an uncommon revelation.
DIPG, the second most common brain tumor in children, is responsible for the majority of annual pediatric brain tumor deaths, has no survivors, and has had no effective change in treatment nor its terminal prognosis since Neil Armstrongs daughter died of it in 1962. Brain tumors are the leading cause of death in children diagnosed with cancer. This is not an irrelevant disease, but like all childhood cancers, it's marginalized as rare and receives little to no research funding from the Federal Government, no matter how many have died, or continue to die. Our children deserve better!
It's time to TAKE ACTION! During the week of the 17th of January, February, March, April, and May 2017, call your Representatives in Congress and encourage them to support this non-partisan bill (new designation to be updated shortly--previous was HRes.586, to be found at www.HRes586.com) which uses the poignant example of DIPG to encourage the designation of greater significance to mortality rate and years of life lost in the research grant process for cancer research. 4% is not enough for our kids!!
In every case of DIPG, having to watch and wait helplessly as your child disappears from the earth because basically they don't matter to the "system" is an absolutely UNACCEPTABLE REALITY.
HELP SEND THE MESSAGE TO CONGRESS AND TO OUR PRESIDENT THAT WE NEED TO DO MORE FOR OUR CHILDREN, THAT OUR CHILDREN ARE A PRIORITY AND THAT THIS SHOULD BE REFLECTED IN OUR MEDICAL RESEARCH SYSTEM! TELL THEM MORE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS FOR CANCER RESEARCH WITH THE NCI NEED TO GO TOWARDS SAVING OUR KIDS LIVES!! Do we want to cure cancer? IF ANYONE NEEDS A MOONSHOT, IT'S OUR KIDS WITH DIPG. But are they getting it? Don't let "Moonshot" white-wash the Childhood Cancer Awareness Movement; ask that our children be prioritized.
Thank you for your generosity and consideration!
