BENEFITING: UNICEF USA
For the past 3 years I've donated my birthday to a cause I'm passionate about. As I turn 30 on March 7th, I've decided to give this one up to benefit Nutrition & Protective Services to Colombia's Indigenous Children, a project UNICEF's Next Generation is currently focused on.
As most of you know, I've been involved with UNICEF's Next Generation since it was founded in 2009 and play an active role as a founding member of the Steering Committee.
Now in its fourth year, Next Gen has raised over $2.5 million for UNICEF programs worldwide. Here are some of our biggest fundraising campaigns:
-Over $175,000 to support nutrition programs in Guatemala
-More than $50,000 for emergency response and recovery in Haiti
-$150,000 to help UNICEF equip a maternal and neonatal center in Ethiopia
-$89,000 to support Community and Lady Health Workers in Pakistan
-$150,000 for UNICEF’s emergency relief efforts in the Horn of Africa
$100,000 for water, sanitation & hygiene programs in Togo, Vietnam, Mauritania and Cameroon.
-$100,000 for child protection in Vietnam
Our newest project will support Colombia's indigenous children.
Many of Colombia’s indigenous children and pregnant women require urgent assistance. Heavy flooding has created a humanitarian crisis for a vulnerable population already affected by years of armed conflict. UNICEF is there to make sure these children and women get safe water, protective services, and nutritional care.
UNICEF's Next Generation has adopted a fundraising goal of $100,000 to:
-Strengthen the capacity of local communities to respond to emergencies
-Support the coordinated response in nutrition and child protection
-Raise awareness on behalf of the indigenous children affected by the crisis
-Protect women and children against violence, exploitation, abuse, military recruitment, and the risk of land mine accidents
Every day 19,000 children around the world die of things we know how to prevent. With your generous support, we get closer to zero...
