Be Boston Strong with us this year as we salute the responders to the Boston Marathon bombings in honor of the six month anniversary of the attack. Red Cross volunteers and other responders, such as the Upper Cape Special Response Team who were a part of the response to the manhunt that week, will be there to be recognized in a short ceremony at 9 AM. After the recognition ceremony our heroes will lead us to the start line and officially start our race.
Come join us for the 3rd Annual Disaster 5K Run/Walk on October 19th, 2013 at the Hyannis Village Green, come rain or shine!
The registration is open to the public and costs $20; all the proceeds will go to support local disaster relief.
The 5K registration takes place from 8-9 am, and the race begins at 9:15 am. Come dressed up as your favorite superhero and compete to win the best costume prize for a team or individual. The first 100 to register will also receive a free T-shirt and medals will be awarded to the first male and female finishers who are the “Master and Mistress of Disaster”.
So put on your best Superman or Catwoman costume and be a hero to your local Red Cross Chapter by raising money for local disaster response. Special prizes for funds raised by each participant: earn a Red Cross baseball cap, sport bag or fleece by raising $100, $250, $500 or more!
