Team V is the official endurance fundraising program for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We are a committed team of athletes fundraising with strength and determination for the fight against cancer. Our team’s runners are fueled by the spirit of Jim Valvano and his inspiring words, “Don’t Give Up . . . Don’t Ever Give Up!”®
Joining Team V gives you the opportunity to run for far more than yourself and make your miles count. We have two fundraising options this year: choose the $3,500 fundraising minimum commitment and receive the branded gear and perks listed below, or upgrade to a minimum commitment of $4,500 and receive the standard benefits as well as a two night stay at New York Athletic Club November 4 – 6, 2017!
In addition to raising money for a great cause, Team V runners receive these benefits:
- Free registration and guaranteed entry into the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon
- Exclusive Team V technical t-shirt
- Official Team V Swag Bag
- Pre-race pasta party the evening before the marathon
- Personalized online fundraising page, with fundraising support provided
- Customizable training plans for runners of all levels
Runners may also elect to raise a minimum of $4,500 and take advantage of both the perks mentioned above AND a complimentary two night stay at the private New York Athletic Club (November 4 – 6, 2017). The NYAC is located just ½ mile from the marathon finish.
Our runners commit to raising their fundraising minimum by October 13, 2017, and runners who exceed their minimum fundraising commitment will be eligible for additional Team V swag.
Already have guaranteed entry? We would love to have you join Team V too! Runners who have secured entry via lottery or qualification can join Team V and receive all the benefits mentioned above by committing to raise $1,500 (without hotel) or $2,500 (with hotel).
The V Foundation was founded by ESPN and award-winning NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano. Coach Valvano was diagnosed with cancer in 1993. When he created the Foundation, Jim knew that it was too late for research to save him, but he spent his last months alive creating a legacy of hope for others diagnosed with this debilitating disease.
In the past 24 years, The V Foundation has awarded more than $170 million to cancer research and related programs nationwide.
Jim Valvano’s “Don’t Give Up . . . Don’t Ever Give Up!”® spirit is alive now more than ever, and it is the perfect motto to carry us through the largest marathon in the world. With continued support, we will forge ahead with innovative research. Join us on Team V or support us through a donation – either way, you are making a difference and saving lives. There is not a moment to lose in the fight against cancer.
