ORGANIZER: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I'm ecstatic to be running the 2015 Boston Marathon on behalf of the MGH Emergency Response Fund! I'm going to need all the support I can get in the coming months with training and fundraising, but it will keep me on track knowing I'm running to benefit a group that proved its heroism after the attacks at the finish line in 2013. The MGH Emergency Response Fund ensures Boston and its people (you!) receive world-class care when you need it most - in the face of disaster.
Every little bit gets us closer to our goal. Your support means the world to me. Keep an eye out for upcoming fundraisers!
And on April 20th, I'll meet you on Boylston. :)
Also, read about my training progress on my blog! www.seesebbyrun.com

MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL wrote - Following the tragedy of the 2013 marathon bombings, Mass General was fortunate to receive 40 guaranteed entries from the Boston Athletic Association to create an Emergency Response Marathon Team. The funds raised provide critical support for emergency care, disaster relief and disaster preparedness training at Mass General, efforts that benefit victims worldwide. Team runners raise money to ensure that Mass General is ready for the next disaster – man-made or natural. Marathon funds support the training and resources needed to develop a carefully, integrated response that spans multiple departments throughout the hospital.
“There’s no room for error,” says David Brown, MD, chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mass General. “Our performance must be flawless. As in football, if one player of the 11 on the field doesn’t do the job, the play fails.”
At Mass General, we take emergency planning very seriously. Preparing for the next disaster takes much training and practice. And donors are critical to our success. Time spent training is not covered by insurance and often takes place outside work hours. Money raised by the Mass General Emergency Response team allows Mass General to ready at a moment’s notice.
