In July 2014, our oldest daughter Caroline (age 7 at the time) bravely entered the NYU Langone Medical Center for brain surgery to remove tissue that was causing her to have daily seizures since she was 9 months. Despite our nerves and fears, we could not have been more impressed with the entire medical and support team at NYU. Our 3 week stay in intensive care was about as emotional as it gets as a parent, but every single member of the NYU medical team was so positive and supportive, we just knew we were in good hands. We are all so thankful for them each day for the care she received.....We are now 18 months post surgery and she is doing great...she even ran her own 5K race this past summer.
I am training for this half marathon this winter as I personally now know what an amazing organization FACES is and how important their work is for so many families. Your support is greatly appreciated and makes a difference. I promise to do my best to make you proud. THANK YOU for considering a donation of any amount.
TeamFACES is proud to run in the 2016 NYC Half Marathon among thousands of others as they race on behalf of important, meaningful causes. Our athletes will compete to spread epilepsy awareness and support for the mission of FACES while racing through the streets of New York City on March 20th!
FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) at NYU Langone Medical Center is dedicated to helping people and families living with epilepsy, through research, education, and clinical and community support programs.
Funds raised by each runner will benefit research efforts to improve epilepsy care, educational materials and cost-free seminars, scholarship opportunities, family initiatives, and various events hosted by FACES throughout the year.
