Please join our team, the "Fermentalists" as we raise money to assist students who are studying for a career in medical and scientific visualization.
We are raising money to support education and research within the field of medical illustration and related visual communication professions.
While the Vesalius Trust doesn't raise money directly for someone who has a disease, when you or someone you know is diagnosed with an illness, education to gain understanding about that disease is critical so that proper treatment can be obtained. In addition to visiting with a doctor and reading and sharing information with friends and family, it is more important than ever that we have access to images and animations that help complete the story of an illness or a surgical procedure. Every healthcare worker, doctor, and scientist has seen drawings or movies that have influenced their ability to bring the best care to their patients. Creating that visual information is as important to the healthcare industry as the research that goes into battling cancer and other diseases.
Who is the Vesalius Trust?
The Vesalius Trust was founded by The Association of Medical Illustrators to establish a public educational foundation for the purpose of raising and maintaining funds to be used for developing and supporting education and research within the field of medical illustration and related visual communication professions, and for advancing education and communication in medicine and the health sciences. For more information about the Vesalius Trust, please visit www.vesaliustrust.org
The "Brain Basket Challenge" is designed to be a fun and friendly competition at the annual Association of Medical Illustrators conference. Despite the whimsical nature of the event, our fundraising effort is serious. By donating, you'll help our team, the "Fermentalists" gain a competitive advantage over the other teams while helping students improve their visual communication skills and bring their best work to the healthcare industry. As education expenses for students increase faster than the rate of inflation, any help in offsetting the cost of their education is greatly valued by those students.
What you get for your donation:
Beside the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to improve visual communication in the health sciences, you'll also get some really cool stuff for different levels of donations. While the Federal Government prohibits the trade of alcohol for a fundraising donation, we've come up with some nifty, limited-edition, collectable pint glasses as a thank you gift for your donations. The pint glasses represent the four currently accredited* medical illustration programs. For a $50.00 donation, you can pick your favorite pint glass, or for a $200.00 donation, you can receive all four glasses (please indicate your choice when you donate. For those that are participating in the Vesalius Trust event in Cleveland this year, we are making arrangements to have tasting samples of each of the four home brewed “tribute” beers available at the live auction.
*For anyone involved in a program that is either not currently accredited or is no longer active, please indicate that you would like a pint glass for your program and we will do our best to accommodate your request!
