THE STORY:

Dear Family & Friends,

When I decided to run the Chicago Marathon there was a list a charities I could choose.  The Pat Tillman Foundation was the fit for me.  It encompassed my love of football and my passion for running.  In addition, having lost a close relative serving in the military who left behind a wife and family, I knew this was the charity I would run for.

Of course, I knew of Pat Tillman before joining Team Tillman; however, it inspired me to learn more about him.  He left a legacy with the Arizona Cardinals only to leave them at a high-point in his football career…even turning down a lucrative offer from the St. Louis Rams.  After the 911 attacks he was compelled to do more with his life and joined the US Army leaving a $3.6 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals.  WOW!

The Pat Tillman Foundation was created to honor his legacy to invest in military veterans and their spouses through educational scholarships.  The foundation was inspired by Pat’s leadership, passion for education and spirit of service.

Please join me in supporting Team Tillman.

Told he was too small to ever play football, he defied skeptics, first as an All-American ASU Sun Devil and then, as a record-breaking safety for the Arizona Cardinals. Even in the off-season, he never quit challenging himself at marathons and half-Ironman triathlons nationwide.

Today, Team Tillman is keeping Pat’s passion and intensity alive while inspiring others to live up to their potential. A community of everyday athletes, civilian and military, we participate as a team or individually in marathons, half-marathons, triathlons, cycling and other athletic events to honor Pat. To date, we have raised nearly $1 million to fund scholarships for Tillman Scholars, who share Pat’s commitment to service, learning and action.
